Are Ladies Bikes Different?

If we compare two individuals of equal height, one male and one female, of average build for that height, there are some noticeable differences. Women tend to have longer legs and a shorter torso. Ladies also tend to have shorter arms than their male counterparts. This means a women would need to stretch further to reach the handlebars of a given bike, than the equal height male. Too often ladies have purchased bikes that stretch them and in turn can cause back and shoulder pains.

Avanti wanted to really understand what women wanted, what they liked and what they disliked when it came to cycling.  They also wanted to get the inside information that would enable them to develop bikes that would quite simply be better for women to ride.

Through ongoing focus groups with Women riders, Avanti has been able to gather detailed insights to deliver bikes that provide a superior fit and ride for women.

Avanti’s  bike  designers and engineers have taken these insights and ideas and combined these in the development of frames with specific geometry for women. The frames have been matched with the right components to suit a specific style of riding and cater for some of those specific female differences such as shoulder width, hand size and so on.
